Installing the Software
=======================

This document contains installation information and the system
requirements for the SerialXpress software.

Minimum System Requirements
===========================
The following table lists the minimum system requirements for
the offline version of the SerialXpress software:

Pre-requisites
==============
The following components must be installed on your instrument (Personal
computer or Tektronix arbitrary waveform generator) for the SerialXpress
application to run.

1.  Microsoft .NET version 2.0. The installer automatically installs .NET
version 2.0 if it is not installed.
2.  MATLAB Compiler Runtime 7.6. The installer automatically installs
MATLAB Compiler Runtime 7.6 if it is not installed.

Optional Requirement:
TekVISA version 3.3.2.7 is required only to communicate with test instruments,
such as oscilloscopes, and to transfer data. You can install TekVISA from
the application CD Browser. You can also download the latest TekVISA at
www.tektronix.com/software. To define the search criteria, use TEKVISA in
the Keyword field

Installation Procedure
======================
1. Insert the SerialXpress CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
2. If the installation program does not automatically start, find launch.exe on the
CD Browser and double-click it. The CD Browser opens.
3. View the manuals using Acrobat Reader (install Acrobat Reader from the
CD Browser), or install the software.
4. To install the software, select Software Installation.
5. Select TekVISA to install TekVISA. Installing TekVISA is optional.

NOTE. If TekVISA is not installed, the wizard prompts you to either install
TekVISA or proceed with installing SerialXpress.

6. Click Finish to exit.
7. The DK2 DESkey Drivers installation begins. Use the default options to
install the drivers. Once the installation is complete, click Finish to exit.

NOTE. In Windows Vista, you must always run SerialXpress with Administrator
privileges. To do so, right-click either on the SerialXpress desktop shortcut
or on the SerialXpress application from
Start > All Programs > Tektronix SerialXpress.
Select Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu.

Launching the Application and Online Help
=========================================
After you have installed the application, you can run the
SerialXpress software by clicking
Start > All Programs > Tektronix SerialXpress > SerialXpress
Application
or

by clicking the shortcut on the desktop.

NOTE. You may be unable to run SerialXpress on Windows Vista by
double-clicking the SerialXpress shortcut on the desktop or by
selecting it from the Start menu. In this case, right-click on
the SerialXpress shortcut or select it from the Start menu,
and select Run as Adminstrator from the shortcut menu.

You can display the online help by clicking Start > All Programs >
Tektronix SerialXpress > SerialXpress Help.

Uninstalling the Software
=========================
This section describes how to uninstall the application.

1. Uninstall the software in one of two ways:
- By clicking Start > All Programs > Tektronix SerialXpress >
SerialXpress Uninstall.
- By selecting Add/Remove Programs in the Control panel.

2. The following message appears: Do you want to completely remove the
SerialXpress software and all of its components?

Click Yes to proceed with uninstalling the software. The Setup Status
window displays the progress on uninstallation. You cannot cancel
uninstallation during this time.  Click No to exit uninstallation.

3. When the software has been uninstalled, click Finish to exit.

NOTE. Uninstalling the application, does not uninstall the DK2 DESkey
Drivers. To uninstall the DK2 DESkey Driver, select Start >
Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > DK2 DESkey Drivers 7.14.0.25.
